Billy Bob Thornton Radio Interview – Lesson in Publicity

4

Sometimes having something go wrong in your video (or interview) can be better for you than having everything go right.

In a recent radio interview, which was also recorded on video, Billy Bob Thornton and his band The Boxmasters were intending talk about music and seemingly ignore Billy Bob's past as an actor, screenwriter and director.

The interviewer mentioned this past during the intro just before he started interviewing the band.  Apparently Billy Bob didn't like that because he started giving nonsensical answers to anything the interviewer asked.  Ironically, this interview will probably get more "buzz" because of this than if the interview went straightahead with no hitches.

Here's the video so you can see it for yourself:

Awwwwwkwaaaaaaard!

Within the first minute during the introduction you can see Billy Bob start to get riled up.  He leans back, takes a deep breath, and seems like he's getting ready to lay into the interviewer.

I can kind of see it from Billy Bob's point of view.  He went to the radio show to talk about music and not focus at all on his acting career.  I think Billy Bob was trying to make the point that if the interviewer was going to start off not talking about music then he wasn't going to talk about music either.

At first you might think that Billy Bob has just gone nuts, but I think this is just how he must've been dealing with being so angry with the way the interviewer introduced him.

In the end, it worked much better publicity wise.  For example I would not have paid attention to this interview if there had not been this kind of angle to it.  It's one more person who now knows about The Boxmasters, which is what he really wanted anyway.

Well that just goes to show that even bad publicity is publicity none the less.

waaahooo. Pretty funny man. You're right if I would have seen this, I would have thought Billy Bob had clearly lost his marbles.

Billy Bob is actually one of my favorit celebs. He seems very eccentric. I'm so glad you've spotlighted a very interesting interview here. Which I had seen it when it aired.
