Nice post.

The YouTube CC system is very, very easy to use. And given that one in seven of the UK and US populations have a hearing impairment, I'd say it's more important than most people think to put closed captions on your videos. Why would you just chuck away one in seven of your potential viewers?

But yes, the SEO argument is probably more of a tangible benefit and certainly another powerful argument in favour of closed captions.

[But then I would say that, wouldn't I? I've just started a company to create closed caption files... ]

Love your blog. Yes. It does seem that close captioning would have many benefits for videos.
