Video Marketing – YouTube's Sponsored Videos
A really amuses me when people get upset when they have to pay to have their message seen.
In this video Matthew Liu (YouTube's product manager) describes YouTube's paid placement feature called "sponsored videos".
If you click through the video and see the comments that were left you find some people really unhappy with the idea that you have to pay any money to get their video seen on the first page of YouTube.
I wonder if they get just as upset by the fact that their website doesn't show up on the first page of Google.
It's the same concept!
Most people have to pay a to get their video seen on Google's search engine results for their favorite keyword. They to have their sights seen in a sponsored listings area and this is how Google makes money. Since Google owns YouTube it was only a matter of time before they put in a similar architecture into that video sharing service.
The people complaining should be happy that they now have a way to actually get their videos seen. At least now they have the option -before this for many of them the only option was to languish in obscurity.
And I would suggest that the people who really have a well defined sales process are using both paid listings and working to get their videos showing up in the natural listings as well.
